  • RODEO CLOWN REUNION DURING DAYS OF '76
    DEADWOOD – The laugh-getters and bullfighters of yesteryear are gathering for their annual reunion during the 2009 Days of ’76 events in Deadwood, July 21-25. Rodeo clowns from 14 states will gather in Deadwood to be honored for their years in the arena entertaining rodeo audiences and saving bull riders from serious injury.


  • WILD BILL DAYS 2009 FAST APPROACHING
    DEADWOOD -- Free concerts by Ricochet and Glen Campbell highlight this years Wild Bill Days in historic Deadwood, June 19-21, and the weekends festivities will also feature Cowboy Fast Draw Championships and a Firearms and Old West Auction and Show.

    Wild Bill Days celebrates the life and times of Deadwoods most famous resident, Wild Bill Hickok.


  • THE SECOND COMING OF DEADWOOD
    DEADWOOD -- Twenty years ago this summer, Deadwood, South Dakota, was on the verge of an economic boom not seen since gold was discovered here in 1876. The reason: Legalized gaming was coming to Deadwood in November of 1989, and the city was gearing up for a whole new industry.

    In the fall of 1988, South Dakota had approved a constitutional amendment to allow limited-stakes blackjack, poker and slot machines in Deadwood.


  • DEADWOOD GAMING ASSOCIATION'S CHARITY GOLF TOURNEY JULY 10
    DEADWOOD – The annual Deadwood Gaming Association’s Charity Golf Tournament will be held July 10 at Tomahawk Country Club and the Lead Country Club. Proceeds from the tournament benefit NeighborWorks Dakota Home Resources. It’s a 4-person scramble tournament, with the cost per team of $300.


  • COMMUNITY APPRECIATION NIGHT 2009 AWARD WINNERS

    DEADWOOD - The 3rd annual Community Appreciation Night was held May 16, 2009 at the Deadwood Pavilion. The event, sponsored by the Deadwood and Lead chamber's of commerce, the Elk's Club and the Black Hills Pioneer, featured the Abbey Road Band and DD and the Fayrohs as well as the awards ceremony.

    Glen Campbell, Ricochet Headline Deadwood's Wild Bill Hickok Days
    DEADWOOD - The Cowboy Fast Draw Championships, Wild West re-enactors, an Old West auction, world championship BBQ and two days of free concerts featuring country legends Ricochet and the legendary Glen Campbell are all on tap for the annual Wild Bill Hickok Days celebration June 19-21 in Historic Deadwood.



  • UNITED'S SKYWEST MAGAZINE TOUTS DEADWOOD'S 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF GAMING
    United's SkyWest Magazine Touts Deadwood's 20th Anniversary of Gaming
    DEADWOOD -- More than 2 million passengers on United Airlines flights in May and June will be reading about Deadwood in SkyWest Magazine.

    The May-June edition of the in-flight magazine includes a four-page feature on “The Town that Saved Itself,” written by Deadwood author Tom Griffith.
