MARDI GRAS 2010 SCHEDULE!
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 5:
Open container will be allowed on Main Street from Four Aces to the Masonic Temple from 5pm till 10pm.
7 p.m.: People’s Parade and Mardi Gras Coronation Competition– This precursor to Saturday’s parade allows the public to participate with music, beads, floats, costume contest, dancing and more. The parade begins at 7pm in the lower Main Street parking lot and will work its way up Main Street. The parade will end in front of the Silverado Casino on upper Main Street. The public is encouraged to walk along the route and participate in all the fun. Prizes will be awarded to best costume. Following the parade, this year's King and Queen of Mardi Gras will be coronated at the Lucky Nugget Gambling Hall. Winners will reign over Saturday’s Mardi Gras parade of lights. A costume contest will also be held at the Lucky Nugget Gambling Hall after the parade.
9 p.m.: Curley Taylor 7 & the Zydeco Trouble -- Denver's own “Curley Taylor 7 & the Zydeco Trouble” will perform from 9pm to 11pm at the Lucky Nugget.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 6:
Open container will be allowed on Main Street from Four Aces to the Masonic Temple from 5pm till 10pm.
1 p.m. - 4 p.m.: Cajun Cook-Off – Deadwood’s annual Cajun Cook-Off takes place from 1pm to 4pm. Locations include The Lodge at Deadwood, Four Aces, Lucky Nugget, Mineral Palace, Bourbon Street, Gold Dust, Tin Lizzie, and the Silverado. A public tasting will take place with small donations encouraged for a local charity.
1 p.m. - 4 p.m.: 2nd Annual Mardi Gras Cake Decorating Contest – Lucky Nugget Gambling Hall from 1pm till 4pm. Contact the Deadwood/Lead Arts Council at 584-1461 for more information. After the parade, all the cakes will be cut for sampling too!
7 p.m.: DEADWOOD'S ANNUAL MARDI GRAS PARADE! This annual Mardi Gras Parade begins at 7pm, running up historic Main Street. Over 50,000 sets of beads will be thrown along the parade route.
9 p.m.: “Curley Taylor 7 & the Zydeco Trouble” will perform from 9pm to 11pm at the Lucky Nugget

*The first annual Mardi Gras Cake Contest was held during Deadwood’s weekend festivities. More than a dozen cakes were entered in the contest, and contestants competed in two categories – professional and amateur.
